The World Expo 2015 in Milan

The 2015 World Expo was the first one we visited, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Seeing an expo as a temporary thing, I was amazed by the type of buildings that were setup. These were really high class designs and beautifully created buildings. It was good to hear a number of these buildings will remain in the future. The world expo terrain will be used for future exhibitions and expo’s.

The theme of this expo was around food (that’s not strange when in Italy..) and agriculture. With an accent on innovations. And the exposition gave a good overview of what is happening in different areas in the world on growing and creating food.

For me, coming from The Netherlands, our contribution was a bit disappointing. Where a lot of countries had invested in design buildings, The Netherlands had a few food stalls and a small music podium. While we do have world class architects, and play an important role in agricultural innovation. Looks like The Netherlands had run out of budget for the expo.

I would be curious to see how this terrain in Milan looks in 2 years time, and see what buildings are still there. I really hope some of my favourites as pictured below are still there. And I am sure the Netherlands contribution will not be one of them.
