Restaurant Pharmacia in Lisbon

Restaurant Pharmacia is located in the pharmacia museum in Lisbon. And pharmacia is also the theme of the restaurant. I am not a huge fan of themed restaurants. In most theme restaurants it seems entertainment is more important that food.

But as a number of people advised Pharmacia, and I also saw the positive ratings on Foursquare and Tripadvisor, I got curious. So we booked a table to find out ourselves.

The theme is clearly visible in the interior, that’s mostly ancient hospital equipment. The cocktails are named after medicine (do you want to start with Ibuprofen or will a Placebo do?) But it’s definitely not ‘over the top’ Nobody is dressed like a nurse, and there is no physical examination involved.

And the most important thing: the food is great. We did the tasting menu, with a number of delicious dishes. Especially the octopus with potato and pickled vegetables was gorgeous. The chef of the restaurant is Susane da Felicidade. She also has a restaurant in the Time Out Market and is regarded as one of Portugal’s top chefs. Next time we are in Lisbon we will definitely re-visit both restaurants.
