Pizarro in Bermondsey

Bermondsey is one of these nice areas in London that feel like a small city on it’s own, but still have the kind of restaurants and other facilities that belong to a big city.

Josè Pizarro has two restaurants in Bermondsey, both in Bermondsey street. One called Jose is a very busy tapas restaurant. The other is called Pizarro. I have eaten at Pizarro several times now, and it’s a very pleasant restaurant with friendly staff and great dishes.

They have an open kitchen, and I would absolutely recommend eating at the bar that looks into the kitchen if you’re just 1 or 2 people. It’s fun to see the dishes being made. I noticed the chef himself in there himself quit often.

Josè Pizarro has written a few cookbooks, the latest one called “Basque” of which I bought a signed copy in the restaurant. I had a talk with him about the book, and he told me how he enjoyed travelling through Basque country for the book.
