Hoi Polloi

The Hoi Polloi restaurant is part of the trendy ACE hotel in Shoreditch. Although not staying in the hotel (I was in the new CitizenM Shoreditch) I did have a diner in Hoi Polloi.

Being in hipster area Shoreditch (at least for now, The City is overtaking it fast) the ACE hotel is very much a hipster hotel. And the Hoi Polloi fits it that picture. With 80s (or is it 70s) style interior it has much of a retro look. Luckily the food is not retro, but more modern style British.

I started with a tomato salad with zucchini flower filled with cheese. Next was a dish around hearts of palm. And desert was their own style of Eton Mash with raspberry and pistachio.

In summary Hoi Polloi is a creative kitchen, with dishes well done. In a very Shoreditch surrounding.
